Email From a Source about St. Francis...

The Mayor knows exactly who gave him this advice.  Man enough to give the person credit?  Only time will tell.

Received this email today from a trusted souce...

Little Update on St Francis:

After all the rumors and gossip, it seems that after getting some good advice and playing hardball the Mayor my have gotten one right.
When St Francis pulled it's services from BG, Mayor Buckley started talking to Community and why wouldn't he. These conversation let St Francis know where they stood after leaving the community high and dry.
It's seems the Mayor figured out that if the building went completely dark (was scheduled to happen in 2013) the city could exercise emanate domain after six months, now I'm not sure what kind of poker Player the Mayor is, but he played this hand well. He let it out that if the city claimed the building it would be sold to Community, Now the sisters couldn't have that and considering the home office in Mishawaka was less than happy with how this whole closing thing went, add in some conversations with ideas for the building from the community and bing bang boom, it looks like we have an agreement.
The Mishawaka group was in the Grove on Friday and here's the skinny.
Select will stay in the building
part of the building will be transformed into assisted living apts, restaurants and conference rooms will be added, along with medical offices and services. Glad the Mayor listened to a few and made the pitch.
THIS is a win win, the community will have medical service, the city gains sewer revenue, and the whole thing will help the tax base.

It's amazing what can happen when deaf ears aren't turned to people with good ideas, whether they are part of your party or not.

(kevin leave my name off of it) I'll explain later.

I'm curious in what capacity Select is staying since they have already started moving things to their new location on the north side. If they actually do stay, that would be great news.

It's good if St Francis stays involved and who cares in what capacity Select is involved, my concern is the investment group being chaired by long time big time Democrat and Buckleys new buddy Joe Wofla, deals he has been involved with in the past have had a huge gray area so to speak.

if st francis stays involved there will be no tax revenue.I heard from a nurse they were still going to demo the buildings

Thats where you are incorrect, if the building is used for something other than a hospital there will be tax revenue, and as far as demo, the nuns don't want to pay the 10 million it would cost to do that

incorrect on both, the nuns won't pay 10 million to blow it up, and as long as the building is used for something other than a hospital there will be a tax revenue

So let me get this straight. Select is told some time ago that a day will come when they have to leave because the building will either be repurposed into anything other than a healthcare facility because of the non-compete clause, sold, demolished, or both. So, Select drops a huge wad of cash on gutting and refitting an office building in the Castleton area, thinking that they'll have to move all their operations there. Then, surprise, surprise, STF informs them that they get to stay on in the building they have planned for years to vacate!

Doesn't make sense. Not saying its impossible though. Just doesn't seem likely that Select would agree to it, unless they have a bunch of money to waste on a duplicate facility that they may or may not need.

Makes sense to me. Select uses the facility as long as they need. They are renting now, so not responsible for upkeep! Then they bail when they want. Sweet deal for them from the way I see it unless Im missing something. BTW the sisters sold this to the new owner for $10.00

Kudos to my friend, Pancho Alvarez. This past weekend his Cowan High School Volleyball team won the Indiana Class A State Championship. Pancho was the Cable Director for BGTV who showed the Council Meetings live, did outstanding coverage of Beech Grove Sports teams live, and encouraged the public to use the local outlet. His reward was to be fired by Merl and Wright. Nice to see a super good guy rise above the scum.

??? Please give more details! How did he show it live when we have no live feed? Tim Showalter is the one taping the council meetings! Why was he fired and when did this happen?

9:37 AM Yes before Mayor Wright made the City better and Brighter there was live feed at City Hall and the High School. Pancho made it happen with the help of Comcast. His salary was paid for through the fees collected by Comcast( No tax dollars) It was very exciting being able to watch football and basketball games live. He also had a truck and taped away games and showed them when he got back to his studio. And Yes all Council and Board of Works and Sanitation meetings were shown live. He was a class act and did excellent work. I guess we were better and brighter before Wright made us Better and Brighter.

Im so confused! So we had live feed and then it was done away with and then they just put money into this new bond for live feed again, yet rumor has it even tho they got the money in the bond, they are not going to implement it? When was this please? Just during the Wright administration? Thanks!

So the place is now totally shut down. Select is out. Looks like the are in a long term shut down mode. Any more news on this?

Why is Dennis pushing to unionize the public works guys? They don't want it, the citizens don't want it? Plus, AFSCME is the worst of the worst, when it comes to unions. They strike on a dime.

Anyone know what happened between Dan and his new office girl? I heard she quit!

I hope everyone is watching the news about what is happening in Michigan. AFSCME thugs are assaulting people at the Michigan State House simply because they disagree with them. AFSCME is the union Buckley is pushing to be part of Beech Grove. Do we really need a group like this? When they don't like something they assault the people on the other side? They strike and take our city services away? Come on Dennis, be a leader not a puppet.
